We all know that there are no guarantees in life, but there is one investment that I know is guaranteed to produce a return. A wise man once said, “Invest a part of everything that you earn in developing yourself, and you will guarantee your future.”
I’m not sure who said that, but there’s a lot of truth in that statement.
Over the years, I’ve invested a part of everything I earn in my personal and professional development, and although the results aren’t immediate (sometimes they are), over the long term there is always something to gain.
For example, 4 years ago I invested several hundred dollars in some courses that led to me being qualified to offer life insurance, and investment products. That decision to invest a few hundred dollars has given me an average rate of return that is in the several hundred percent annually. That’s way more than any mutual fund investment has returned over the same time period.
I see it all the time. I work with people that want to get ahead financially, and they don’t make the effort to invest in themselves. Then they wonder why nothing’s changing.
It does take time and effort, and at the end of a busy day where you have responsibilities to your boss, and then you come home and have family responsibilities, it’s sometimes difficult to find the time and the energy to focus on anything else. But, for those people that make the commitment and follow through on their decision to invest in themselves, they will reap the rewards financially, and in ways that money can’t buy.
My advice to you, if you want to get ahead, and improve your financial circumstances is to invest some of your time and money in your own development, apply what you learn, and then you’ll multiply what you’ve got available to invest financially.
Have a great day!
